Sub/Amp Install Questions
Sub/Amp Install Questions
I'm going to install a sub/amp that I have into my IX. It will be running off the stock HU. So i'm going to be using a line output converter to get signal to the amp. My question is, what would I run for the Remote wire, run it up to the fuse box? Or is there a easier solution?
Also, as far as running the power wire from the battery to the trunk, what is the easiest way you guys have found, just along the bottom door trim? I already have a hole drilled in the firewall from when I installed my boost gauge, went ahead and drilled it for a future system install. Any info is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Run the remote wire to the radio fuse in the f-box.
I ran the power wire from the firewall, along the door sills, to the amp under my
driver seat.
Using a line converter is the cheapeast way. But getting a HU for under $100 will
be the best way. Checkout Crutchfield.com They'll even give you the harness free.
The OEM speakers sound SOOOO much better with a decent HU, IMHO.

+2 on the head unit, but if you MUST keep the stock radio, and never plan on getting an aftermarket one, I would suggest getting a better quality line level output converter. The one monster cable makes is one of the best, although its pricy($70), but it will give the amp a much stonger and cleaner signal. Its worth it if you are never going to get a head unit, but if you see getting one in the future just go with the standard $20 one. Hope this helps.
ewww, dont do it to a fuse box, thats just esh......
get it off the accessory wire on the factory radio harness. throw like a 10amp fuse on there if you dont feel safe...
and i agree with the others, replace the stock radio....

I recommend replacing the stock radio also!
I put the amp under my seat and followed the center console into the trunk with the speaker wires.
FYI I think there is a powered antenna wire on the stock head unit that should work for the remote wire... but a new head unit is definitely ideal
