Stock CD Player Skips?

Hey guys/gals.

I was going to post this in the Audio & Security section, but the description says "Discuss new audio system upgrades or alarm configurations". This involves my stock CD player.
I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Since I purchased my IX back in August it has had this problem. If im listening to a CD for a long time(long trips), after a while the CD will start skipping and won't stop. If you switch to AM/FM it acts normal, but once you get back to CD it starts skipping. If I pull the cd out, it is really hot. Put it back in, and it starts skipping all over again as soon as it starts playing.
I think this may be a heat issue because If I switch over to AM/FM and listen that for a long while, and then go back to CD, it plays fine. Im thinking that the CD player overheats itself.
Anyway, back in the beginning of last month I took the car to service to have the tires rotated & oil changed . I told the guy the problem with it and he told me that if it happens again, to just bring it in as soon as it happens. Oh well, so much for that.
I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem? I did search before I posted this, but found an outdated thread from 2002 discussing a similar problem. But im not sure if the IXs still use the same unit.

BTW, anyone here try to play Bush's Sixteen Stone album on their stock CD player? It would never play my original copy, so I went out and baught another one thinking it might've not played it due to have a couple scratches on it. No luck on the new CD either.

Mine works fine. I have the IX with the SSL stereo, which is slightly different (no internal amp), but I bet the player is about the same.

I only used my stock cd player once before i ripped it out, and it would do the same thing. it got the cds so hot you could hardly even touch them.
