What is going on here?!

I have read my manual and done some searches looking for answers and cannot find anything conclusive so I will ask explicitly. I have read mixed results on Evo 8s having an alarm. I personally believe it does because when I hit unlock or get out of the car after driving, ~30secs later it will beep once. This does NOT lock the car, but opening the door without hitting unlock will cause the alarm to go off.

My question is: How do I stop this from happening? It's realllly annoying. If I get out and pump gas, it beeps once and I have to hit unlock to disable it. If my keys are in the car, well I'm gonna have an alarm-fest at the pump when I get in. What is going on here?!

Sounds like you have a passive alarm system that is arming itself. You need to turn that feature off.

There is no stock alarm. I would recommend getting someone who is familiar with the car to look under the hood and/or dash to see if anything is installed. Look for an auxilary power wire from the battery or fuse box. Just my 2 cents.

Whoops, yeah, missed that part. Yeah, there must have been something added to the car, and it is arming itself passively.

So the stock remote would be able to operate a 3rd party alarm system?

Yeah, passive remote systems can arm themselves automatically. Get it checked out, then I recommend getting an active system. Remember, a good alarm system should be the first mod you do to protect your investment. Let me know if you need any suggestions.
