Component front speakers and SSL amp

I just upgraded the head unit with my SSL system. I'd like to upgrade the front speakers. Does this require a seperate amp or is this as a simple as removing the existing and putting the new ones in?

I'm also interested in components that don't require custom solutions, outside of spacers. So far, the Polk db6500 or the Alpine spr-17ls seem to come up as contenders.

Alpines should be fine, but I don't remember about depth. Maybe you will need spacers. Well new comp set means that you gonna have new crossovers and my advice find spot somewhere inside door or behind door panel. Signal you will be using is full range from door woofer, that is your input to crossovers, then you will have to run one wire to tweeter in A pillar. It will be your tweeter out from crossover, and of course woofer out to your new door woofer. Have fun.

Oh and you don't need new amp, you can still use your factory infinity but I will say replace headunit. Always souns better.
