Anyone have the pioneer AVIC Z2 yet?

the reason I didn't get a z2 yet because no one has a bypass for it yet.. i bought a z1 from tweeter with warranty so that I can bypass it for the time being until someone figures out a bypass for the z2 and then i'll exchange it when my z1 "fails", but you can buy a disk that converts the z1 to a z2 pretty soon so it's kinda pointless to get the z2 if you have the z1 already...

It is cheaper because thats the trend. More and more vehicles are being equipped with navigation and there are new portable nav units popping up everday. Nav is now become a hot topic on cell phones. Pioneer has no choice but to drop the price. When the Avic-N1 was released, it was like 2200 or so. Now the N3 is like 1600 or so. And these are retail values. The D1 was 1500 and now the D3 is 1000. For that price, who wouldnt want a nav unit from them. This is America. Pricing has to be competitive. And the bypass for the Z2 will probably be the same as that for the Z1. The D3 is supposedly the same as the D1 and D2.

I also read it on avic411.com that a disk will come out to upgrade the z1 to a z2. I also talked to a salesperson at tweeter saying that they will get the disk some time in april.

prices just drop guys. The Z1 and Z2 are identical aside from nav software and ipod integration. And just so that all of you know, the D3 apparently can now be hacked to play DVD movies, which no one was able to do with the D1 or D2. The disk to upgrade the Z1 to a Z2 is most likely going to be around $300 as that is the going price for Nav software upgrades these days

on avic411.com forums people have determined that the bypass for the z1 doesn't work for the z2.. people are still currently trying to work on it right now. People who make bypass for the z1 say that it doesn't even work on the z2.
