Remote start question

Is there a way to integrate a remote starter button into the factory remote? I dont have to much of a need for a full car alarm but the remote start would be nice but i dont want to carry around 2 remotes and i want to keep the quality of my factory remote.

Yes you can.

You will need to buy a remote start unit with an auxilery input. What you would do is use the lock button on your remote, press it a couple times and that would activate the remote start. DEI makes these, I thik I have one kicking around here too I would sell for cheap, allready wired for an Evo too.

DennisF is correct. The only issue is that the starter's range will be only as good as the factory system. Gotta love Dei.

In order to bypass the immobilizer you will need DEI part# 556U or something the same from another maker.

There are 2 wires, power and switched ground and then there is a data loop. It has a plug on one end and a loop on the other end. You will need to remove the plastic covering around the key cylinder and place this loop over the key ring and at that time you should make the loop as small as possible with zip ties or whatever. Once you have done that, secure the loop to the key ring so that it does not fall back anywhere.

You will need a 2nd key to put in the box and this is how the bypass is done.
