Ok - hopefully final update. I was thinking about upgrading to the 10w6 so I went into the store again to listen to them. The w6 hits a lot nicer then the w3. I couldn't resist.

So here's the final list:

Alpine CDA9885 HU
JL 10w6v2-2 sub in a custom enclosure
Alpine MRP-M450 amp (sub)
Alpine MRP-F450 amp (front and rear)
JL XR650csi (front)
JL XR650cxi (rear)

The ZR's are super nice. I was more impressed with them than with the Diamond Audio speakers.

I opted for the XR's cuz my Evo's interior can't do the ZR's justice.

I had the same idea, except with a money constraint too. I originally wanted to be in the $1500 range. Found out how little that would get me so I went to the $2000 range. With all the mods I think I'm closer to $2500 after installation.

We're all excited for you, man. One thing to consider would be some sound deadening like Dynamat. Possibly on the front doors and maybe the trunk (especially with the W6). Talk to the guys when installing and see if they think you'll need it. The stuff works wonders and makes a big difference.

My stereo system is next thing going in my car once I get my damn Orbital kit!!! When I pick everything out and get it installed I'll let ya'll know and will have pics of the install.

Heard from the sales dude today - all the parts are in / will be in tomorrow. Dropping the Evo off at 10 - hopefully pick it up at 6.

Ok - got the car back. Installed put a big-**** scratch on my passenger side tint, but they told me about it and offered to pay to fix it (as they should).

Man - this system can be seriously loud! Volume on the Alpine is up to 40 (I think) and above 20 it hurts. I've got to be careful not to hurt my hearing with this.

Install is very good - very clean. They used the stock mounting points for the speakers except of course the 10w6, so you can't even tell there are upgraded speakers unless you look under the deck or in the trunk. Pics being taken right now.

As promised. The only pics are of the headunit, sub and amps because the rest are, as I said, very stock and boring looking (a good thing - anti-theft).

Full-speed iPod controls rock!

The faceplate swivels down to give access to the CD player

The bottom of one of the JL Audio XR650cxi(s) in the rear deck

The two amps, mounted on the back of the rear seat. The blue wire on the bottom has the quick disconnects to the sub.

JL Audio 10w6v2. Hits very accurately, and can be loud if I turn it up

I need to glue the rear carpet to the spare tire cover. The sub moved around during a drive.

BTW - I requested the sub box not be permanently mounted so I could easily move / remove it.
