Alternate wiring, dash and steering removal - oh my?

Doing a bunch of stuff and need help and advice from advanced users...

1) Tap into power window and door lock switches?

Since the Evo is getting stripped including doors, I would like to tap into power windows and locks and eliminate the switch panels on the doors. Anyone know where these wires are under the dash?

2) I may need to remove the dash, so I have 2 questions:

- Can I remove the top panel separately or is it one whole piece? If I remove top panel, I would have access to the main wiring harness easier, or so it seems.

- I am also removing the SSL amp harness and have it separated upto the dash where it goes up into it, I need to get to this as well and was wondering if it plugged in somewhere else - anyone know?

3) Do I need to remove steering wheel to remove the dash from the car?

4) How does the passengers side airbag unplug, I assume I need to do that to take the top dash out?

Thanks!

PS - I am waiting for my manual CD to come in which should help a lot, I hope!

Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out how to get this dash out... have you gotten anywhere with this? I can't seem to find it in the manual but I've taken a lot of stuff out. It seems to be stuck on the top portion near the center closest to the firewall.

No you don't have to remove the steering wheel.

Here you go: http://justchil.net/dl/evo/dash.pdf

justchil - We meet again!

Yeah, dash is out. Thats how I took all the sound deadeing off firewall. Had to remove the blower and heater core - yuck!

The PDF doesnt show 2 bolts that hold the airbag bracket - one is behind ECU and has to be reached with a swivel, other should be easily accessible.

The pass airbag sorta lifts up straight off with the dash and then come forward.

Hope this helps!

So, taking AC out, can I still have heat? Defroster may not work as well, I figure!
