Information regarding type of material used...

Hi,

FIrst, I apoligize if this is not the correct place to post this, but after process of elimination it seemed like the best forum for it. I am making a modification to my rear crash beam for my JDM bumper install. I am planning on doing it early this summer.

Well, while researching the topic many people say that doing the modification isn't even any better for impact-resistance than going with no crash beam at all. Well I beg to differ, but have no data to prove that. However this is where I need some help. I'm looking for the type of material (aluminum/steel/whatever it's made of) and the grade of the material for the rear crash beam. I plan on running some impact calculations of a standard crash beam versus a modified crash beam and/or no crash beam at all. Another thing I'll also need is any kind of dimensions or fabrication details of the beam for analysis (does it have stiffeners in the beam at all or not).

This information may just be too impractical to receive, but it'd be worth a shot anyways. Something to do in my spare time.

I'm just looking to do a structural analysis of the crash beam so I need dimensions and material type. Thanks.
