flat bottom undertray

I just put together a flat bottom undertray for my evo VIII and am trying to see if anyone would be interested in me making one for them. It is made from a sheet of ABS plastic which goes from the front bumper to the cat. I will most likely be making a rear diffuser and possibly a full flat bottom piece to go along with the undertray which will go from the end of the front undertray to the rear axels with a rear diffuser starting from the rear swaybar and covering the entire back end (I will keep updates on the progress of this as I have time to work on it)

I have a workshop with a lift and all the tools to put the undertray on in about 30 min. around Palo Alto in Northern California. If you cannot come to me let me know and I will have to work out some way to ship it (I may figure this is not worth the trouble/cost though). Depending on your lower ic pipe and exhaust there may have to be a small hole or two cut into the undertray or heat shielding added but I will take care of all of that during installation. I am working on brake cooling ducts as well which should be simple and effective. PM me for pricing

Let me know what you think!

Yes the mods will be in here in no time. I offered my services detailing and the told me I couldn't because I wasn't a sponsor. That looks like a nice piece good luck to you..

I've got this same stuff in place, for sale in a group buy if there is enough interest.

what I have is a front undertray. I thought you just used the ARP splitter and added the pieces in back of it.

I see your location as also being Denver. If you are seriously interested in making/selling these, I have a bunch of Colorado guys who would LOVE to have these.

That actually looks very nice. How is ABS plastic going to hold up to downpipe heat?

I go to the University of Denver so I will be back in Colorado in the beginning of September. I won't have access to my lift or as many tools but if I can find a source for the ABS sheets there I can see if it is worth it to buy the tooling needed to make the undertrays in Denver as well come September.

I believe my piece should work with the IX bumper, it fits on the upper inside of the bumper lip which gives about an inch or so of space for it to be off and still work on the VIII bumper. Does anyone know if the VIII and IX share the same stock undertray? If anyone with a IX is in Nor Cal and wants to come to my place around Palo Alto I will give them a discount on the undertray if you want to hang out for an hour or two while I make one for the IX (if they indeed do need different shapes)

The ABS does fine as long as it is over about 1'' from the exhaust. I tried mine out with a solid sheet covering the whole bottom to see exactly what would happen when exposed to the heat and all that happened was that the plastic melted a tiny bit on the top side. I ended up cutting 2 holes about 2''x3'' each where this happened to solve the problem. I could also just put some stick on heat shield on the ABS to solve the heat issue too. I'll try to find the melted bit and post a pic of it. For being about 1/2'' away from the down pipe under very hard driving (the exhaust manifold was glowing red hot after a few drives I had with that set up) the ABS was only effected a tiny bit.

Awesome!! You rock!!

You may want to get in touch with Lucas from Carz Performance and see if he will allow you access to his lift, tooling, etc. Great guy and goes out of his way for us Colorado Evo guys.

If you're in Denver, try sourcing from Plasticare (Santa Fe & Oxford in Englewood). For smaller amounts, they seem to have the best prices.
