Stock Sound System Question
Stock Sound System Question
At the risk of sounding like a newb, I am looking into replacing the stock head unit with an aftermarket so I can use my IPod. When ordering through Crutchfield they ask if I have the 4,6, or 7 speaker system. To be honest I really don't know. Is there any easy, non-invasive method of find this information out? Thank you.
Not sure if the MR had the option for the SSL sound system that included the subwoofer... but if you don't have that then you have a six speaker sound system. Two tweeters, two front speakers, two rear speakers.
Ya go look at your car...
You should have 2 tweeters in the a pillar
2 mids in the front door panels
2 mids? in the rear deck behind passenger seat.
If you have ssl, it might be different.

I should have been more clear. The car has 6 speakers as I know it has tweeters. I am trying to find out the location of the subwoofer. The techhman only has the location of the amp on page 54A-170.
On another note for the EEs out there. What is the drawback of placing a LED on a variable voltage circuit?

Current limit of the LED could be exceeded. A safe way to avoid this would be to size the resistor with the maximum voltage of your circuit so that the maximum current through the led is no larger than its rated limit. V=IR.
Another possibility of the led idea is that you would be out of the operating range for voltage. Leds, depending on the style, size, etc. only operate on about 2.5-4v, anything more and you will greatly decrease the life of your leds.
