Wound back Rotor or recon alternator?

hi guys,

my alternator is burnt out and the auto electrician confirmed I need a new rotor. He's looked around and unable to find any rotors in all of Australia, and suggessted that I get it sent to QLD, Australia, to get it wound back.

I got in contact with Meeks and BEL garage and meeks are unable to source a recon alt, but looked up the part thru mitsu and im looking at $1400 for a brand new one.

BEL garage have one (which is currently on loan...lol) but it all depends on the price they are willing to sell it for. I also contacted some guys who recondition alternators (recommended by BEL - Gordon's i think) and they recommend that I get the rotor wound back instead of replacing it with a new or recon one, because at least that way I wont be tampering with any factors of it being a jap import, and its best to keep your original alternator and just get it reconditioned.

Need help....
