iPod stereo is cool

Well after about 3 months of installing my iPod capable headunit, I finally installed the cable since it wasn't cold as **** outside. I couldn't decide where I wanted it. I was thinking about the glove box since it would require no drilling but I decided to go with the armrest compartment. Very easy to get all of it off. I could not figure out how to get the main part directly underneath the dash and I didn't want to check on here for such a simple thing. One of those use once plastic clips/screws was holding it in but luckily my hand fit in the tiny compartment of the the ask tray. (hurt like hell but that's part of the experience...). I got out a dramel tool and went at it. I took apart the iPod cable so that I'd have to make as small as a hole as possible but it still required a decent sized horizontal slit to be drameled out.

Overall it turned out ok. I LOVE having my iPod playing with me now. I can't stand my CDs anymore so just turning it to random and controlling it from the head unit is pretty sweet to me. Sound quality actually seems better than CDs, which is odd but probably due to the fact that I had the iPod set to rock eq.

Total time: 20 minutes. Very easy.

Welcome, I haven't had to use CDs in a long time, other than for my navigation or for movies. Even then, I use my Ipod and play the movies on my AVIC N3's screen!

I went a different route with my wire but It's definitely a lot better being able to play through my iphone rather than storing a bunch of CDs

Here here you go. Nothing too exciting. I went the way of closest to the shifter since I'm less likely to see the hole. Again very easy. It's not going to look the greatest but luckily it's in a spot where hardly anyone will see.

I had plenty of room for mine. My unit came with about 3 feet of USB cable and the $3 iPod cable I got off Amazon is about another 2-3 feet. (~5-6 feet total) If you ever decide to relocate, just just a USB cable for some extra length.
