500 bucks for amp/sub in ported box..
theres a place over by where i live thats willing to sell me 2 12" kicker cvr's in a ported box with a no name amp that has 1000watts for 500 bucks. Good deal?

If you haven't done so yet, I would upgrade the radio first.

As for the 2 12" Kicker CVR's, That set up will be pushing about 800watts rms, I'd personally stay away from the no name amp. I doubt a 1000 watt no name amp will provide you with sufficient enough amount of power to run those subs at its intended wattage, That no name amp will probably push about 250-500watts rms at most if I'm not mistaken.

Would you be doing the install? That would save you about 60-80 bucks and do you already have the power wire and RCA's? That'll cost you about 100 bucks depending on where you shop at.

If you want to go with that set up you saw though, 2 Kicker CVR's in the Kicker box retails for 399, The subs I believe are 150 a piece. To answer your question, Seems like a fair deal, Of course it comes down to the amp as well.

Hope that helps.

I agree with that. Don't know if you have an SSL or not, or even if you have an Evo from what your "Drives:" section says, but getting an aftermarket HU improved all aspects of my sound. Beyond that, $500 isn't much and since the music you listen too as a lot of bass, I'd recommend spending more on the amp then the speaker. A good amp that can push 300watts RMS is going to be at least $200 with the better brands being $400+. Then just get a decent 10/12" woofer in the right sized box.

$500 really isn't a lot of budget for a car audio setup. You yourself already pointed out paying that amount alone for the subs and a no name amp...that leaves you NOTHING to improve the mids and highs or the deck that will send the signal to the amp for the sub. Up your budget. Be willing to spend upwards of 1000 and that will make it easier for people to make recommendations. When I was 19, my first setup cost me about 1500 if memory serves right. It was a cheap Pioneer deck, 4 lower end Polk Audio 6.5" coax's, 2 JBL 12's and a MTX amp.

I agree with everyone's opinion. Have to do a new radio first. The stocker just doesn't have the audio control nor clarity an after market one does. Look into alpine, kenwood, eclipse. I would do the 7501 kicker amp for those subs you are looking. Go with decent wiring as well. You will roughly spend about $1000 bucks on a preferred setup. 200-300 for the radio, 700 for the box, amp, subs. Little bit more for the wiring.

if you are willing to spend a little more, I have a full system, I originally spent about 2200 for all this stuff, but am looking to get 900 for it all:
Kicker - 6-1/2" Components KS6.2
Kicker - 6x9" Three Way KS693
Kicker - 4 Channel Amp ZX350.4
Kicker - Mono Amp ZX400.1
Kicker - 10" CVX with Kicker enclosure VCVX10D4
Kicker - 10" Sub Grill
Kicker - 2 Channel S-Series RCA's
Kicker - 4 Channel S-Series RCA's
Tsunami - 4Gauge Multi Amplifier Kit (4ga &8ga)
Tsunami - ANL style fuse holder with digital volatage display.
Tsunami - 1.2 Farad Capacitor

thats a complete system, thing is the rear speakers are the only thing that wouldnt fit over, so either a, you sell them for more or trade them for 6.5s, or i can the set up without the 6x9s, or you can make the 6x9s work.

PM me if you are interested

scrap every idea u have. At least untill u do the follwing. Go to pricegrabber.com and look at their prices.

I had 2 12" alpine type Rs and a hifonix brutus 2000W RMS amp that blew out my tail lights it was so loud. =) the type rs were 2ohm dvc wich totalled to 2ohms which was 1300Watts rms. The subs never had a rpbolem. U could run them at 1 ohm for 2000 w rms, but i wouldnt. 1300 at 2 ohms is much more stable and u wont ovver drive the subs (dont argue with me guys i know what their rated at and i know what they can handle =)

that brutus 2006d monoblo0ck amp cost me like 450$ 3 years ago. probably cheap as hell now. The type rs were about 80$ a piece or somehting. Go through price grabber because they compare prices of tons of distributors. Best buy will always be about 25% more expensive!! thats why my new garmin 880 and pioneer dvd player cost me about a thousand instead of 2000 if i had gone to bestbuy =) yeah thats a 100% more expensive but generally i find bestbuy to be about 25$ more. Also, with your purchases, most of the time the shipping costs are free because u bought somehting expensive, or they only charge u like 20$. At least research **** on price grabber before u go out and buy something. Yes therre is a catch. If your impatient, the 5 to 7 business day transit time of UPS ground can seem like an eternety!! trust me i just got my dvd player today, and i almost hugged the UPS guy =)
