Let me begin by saying that I'm a total n00b when it comes to electrical stuff. Anyway, I installed three Defi BF gauges and the Defi controller last year and everything had been great until one day I randomly lost the ability to adjust the brightness of the gauges. Before tearing everything apart, I'd like to know if there would be a specific issue that would lead to this problem. Thanks

 

how did you have the wired it to? Radio?

 

Yes, IIRC. Other thing I noticed is that the gauges will now only light up if the headlights are turned on.

 

I hate to say it, but your best bet is probably to tear into the wiring, make sure all the connections are tight, make sure you haven't had an insulation rub away.

Its not an Evo, but I had the insulation on 2 wires in my old Jeep rub away and it made it do some ridiculous things, infact, I just fixed the wiring because I noticed while looking for the issue. But low and behold, I fixed the wires and all the issues went away.

 

check to make sure you have the wiring plugged into the correct imput. they will both work but one of them is limited functionality. i'm talking about the power and such wires on the back of your control box

 

I have the same problem but mine are wired into the cig lighter... kinda annoying really.
