Window/door lock switch question

So I bought a door off a 2004 EVO and put it on my 2003. Went to install my original 03 door panel and then found out the window/lock switch unit harness is different.

Here's the 04 wiring (uses 2 harnesses)

Here's the 03 switch unit (only uses 1 harness)

It looks as if I could merge the 04 wiring into the single 03 harness. All the colors are the same. The 03 harness has all of the colors the 04 harnesses having combined.

My question is, will it work if cut and solder the wires from the 04 harness into the single 03 harness? The 03 harness has all the colors the two 04 harnesses have.

Sorry for the long question/write up.

Thanks

Well I went ahead and did it anyways. Works great. Youll need to do this if your installing an 04 door on your 03 or vice versa.

That's something good to know. Kinda weird that it's different. Good find.

On a somewhat related note, I'm gonna try and use a 08+ window switch in my 06. The 08+ models have an auto up feature in addition to the auto down feature for the driver window. I loved it on my 09 GTS. Now I want it in my 06 IX!

You could have just popped your switches out and put em in the new pnael, that is what I did when I put in my evo 7 panels.

Let me know how that works out. I would think that would have something to do with the front ECU and not just the switch, but I have no clue.

I would of just depinned/repinned the connectors instead of cutting/soldering everything. Would've been a cleaner install. But, then again, I do have ocd when it comes to that kind of stuff. If it works, fantastic.

The new door did not come with a panel, the only panel I had was from my 2003 so I had to. Not really a big deal, took a whole 5 minutes

Sounds like a perfect plan, I have never missed with reppining connectors, so I just did it the way I knew. I'll have to look into that next time I run into a complication
