I just bought a 2003 evo with the driver side HID out. OK, no biggie get it replaced...Turns out the ballast is bad and the dealer is trying to charge me 950 bucks for it. I also bought an aftermarket warranty that will cover it, but its not going to be transferred to my name for god knows how long. Im sick of waiting to get my car registered.

Can someone tell me what kind of ballast, or at least what kind of headlights come stock on a 2003 Evo VIII??? thank you

 

It is a Phillips ballast for a d2s. All ct9a headlights with HID are the same exceptions being color of the housing and the cutoff of the low beam on the JDM. Look in the for sale and check ebay, they always seem to have them floating around. Good luck.
