EVO 8 & 4g64 eclipse galant ECU pinout
EVO 8 & 4g64 eclipse galant ECU pinout
hey guys
alright so to sum a long story short , i swapped an entire evo 8 front + ecu on a 2003 galant while keeping the 4g64 harness ( i was told it would be easier this way but i still have the evo engine harness )
the thing is im trying to read my ecu with ecuflash /or evoscan and it doesnt work
heres the log file

ive asked around and it probably is bad wiring
EVO 8 ecu pinout ( plz if someone sees something not right , plz let us know )
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/e...-ecuwiring.htm
and this one gives the color which is nice

this is the evo ecu pinout provided by roadraceeng. its accurrate but could use more info
anyway heres the ones from the 8g service manual

heres how i wired it
4G64-EVO
1-1
9-14
24-2
2-15
14-4
28-17
15-5
29-18
6-6
20-8 anyone knows if these need to be plugged into the ECU if the car has no A/C ?
34-9
11-10
12-23
41-12
47-25
19-19
18-21

8-33
22-36
52-37
49-38
54-41
83-45
26-54
35-55
43-58 evo sheet says tach , 8g service manual says engine ignition signal 3000r/m
3-60
92-61
58-71 can someone confirm this plz, 8g says ignition switch st evo says starter signal
64-72 i read somewhere that i might have to connect a grond here also, caus of a
difference in temperature intake between the two , anyone can confirm?
91-73
73-75
71-76
66-80
46-40 can anyone confirm this? plz
98-82 8g says ignition switch ig , evo says ignition, can anyone confirm ?
44-83 same story here about the ground and the diff in temp. should i connect 1 ?
78-84
55-85
80-86
79- on a post someone said to plug it into evo pin # 87 ,but theres no wire there, ??
56-88
45-89
65-90
now the fun part
111-51 this is for the immobilizer ECU ( anti theft )
90-78 KNOCK sensor, but i believe the galant doesnt have one , and 1 needs to be
installed for better timing. can anyone confirm plz?
113-79 DATA link connections
42-13 chassis grounds
16-40 * one of these should go on the intake air temperature sensor galant pin#64
57-40 * ''
48-26 Chassis ground
60-46 Fuel level in the instrument cluster
85-62 DATA link connector
so im stuck with these left
on the evo wires
PIN # 3 is the fuel pressure solenoid. the evo doesnt have the same fuel pump as our Galant , so does it need to be plugged somewhere ?
PIN # 11 is the wastegate solenoid wire so a new circuit must be created i suppose
PIN # 31 & 32 are A/C , but the 8 g service manual only list 3 pin # 83, 61 , 20
the evo lists 5 A/C pins # 8 , 24, 31, 32, 45
PIN # 34 has a blue wire but i got no information at all on what it is , any info any1?
PIN # 35 is for an intercooler sprayer system, a new circuit needs to be created
PIN # 39 if the evo fuel tank is full the ecu receives/sends a signal to the fuel pump to unleash more gas to the engine for max performance. on the other hand, if the tank is empty the pump will be in economy mode and will not deliver as much gas. im pretty sure our galant doesnt have that . any1 have an idea on where it goes, ?
PIN # 43 is a clutch position sensor . a new circuit needs to be created to the manual clutch , the harness needs to be connected behind the clutch pedal .
PIN # 44 & 57 & 91 intercooler sprayer
pin # 74 & same story for these fuel sensors ? any1 knows where it goes?
and finnaly PIn # 92 which are the sensor grounds , can anyone confirm i think these are the grounds that need to be plugged with the galant pin # 44
some are welded but most are twisted together with a kind of clamp , it wont undo by themselves but can it caus too much resistance as to affect the voltage ?
anyway if my wiring is correct it only leaves a burnt or damaged ecu ( in which case why would me check engine light stay with the key at ON )
or a bad 1.3u wire ( came from limitless.nz )
plz help

Ya, theres about a dozen or so Galants that have done it.
The information is all there dude. I did mine about 4 months ago and used the info found on TGC and it worked the first time around. I double checked all the splices so if there was a failure of loading ECU flash, I know it wasnt the harness cuz the harness was made correctly. So using the pinouts you posted, can you say for certain that you matched up the wires correctly?

im pretty sure i did
when i did the swap , i took 1 wire at a time , unhooked it from the galant harness and wired it to the evo harness
i will undo all of them and start from scratch ,
is the list accurate ? , i read somewhere that i needed to include a ground on a sensor i think it was either the cam or cranck sensor .

you do not HAVE to use a resistor pack for the injectors.
The ground for a cam/crank sensor shouldnt matter since you cannot read from the ECU yet, much less start the car. Even if all your sensors were disconnected, you should still be able to read from the ECU

well ive checked every wire and they were all wired correctly
on the 8G ecu pinouts theres no info on pin 60 # gray wire , im pretty sure its the fuel lever tank sensor , which is pin # 46 yellow red on the evo 8 ecu . i had connected the 2 but i disconnected them just in case
also the idle sensor in our G pin 79 , should go to evo pin 85 but theres no wire
the obd2 connector in our G has 8 wires . the 1.3u wire has 8 also but the pattern is different so only 6 wire connect in each other
red white which is probably pin 85
red black
black ( ground )
black ( ground )
grey red
green orange
and theres the lightgreen wire (pin 113 ) thats alone in the white flash plug

Please can you tell me what car this is off & what transmission you have, as it is scarily similar to my Evo7 GTA. Thanks
Also where did you find it?
Furthermore, why are you using an Evo 260 ECU pin out, when the 260 is a UK only model. Where are your parts from?
Thanks

im pretty sure that pinout is for a 3g eclipse automatique ( 00-05 )
found it on the net somewhere cant remember where though , i was using it to double check some things and it became useful
for the evo ecu pinout i was using the roadrace one
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/e...-ecuwiring.htm
and the 260 one for double checking and again it became useful
and the parts are from cali and are usdm ( i checked the part # )
anyway
turns out ecuflash wasnt able to connect caus my galant obd2 port doesnt use the same wires/pins as the evo bd2 port,
i had to rewire the red/black wire caus mine was there but without any voltage, and i had to make a wire from the last obd pin to pin # 59 on the ecu which was empty funny enough
after that i was able to read the ecu , then delete the immo
and the car started just fine
for 5 min , then a fuse blew at socket # 20 on the galant interior fuse box
its a stock 10 amp , i replaced it, and it blew again a about 5m min
i swapped it for a 15 amp and it beens running good for about 1 hour now

I know this thread is years old but for searching/educational reasons im updating some misinformation. The OP was probably popping fuses because pin 46 (4g64) goes to pin 81 (EVO). its the 5v ref wire for sensors. Also, pin 57 (4g64) goes to pin 40 & 90 (EVO), pin 57 (4g64) goes to pin 92 (EVO) (sensor grounds)
The rest seems to be correct.
The above is for an automatic car, or a car that was automatic that was converted to manual.

Hello, for the GTA (Evo 7 - auto) please look at the pinout in my signature. It was completed recently, over several years of research by myself and a couple of others. It is the pinout used by everyone for the GTA.
