carbon kevlar wrapping question
carbon kevlar wrapping question
i want to do some carbon kevlar wrapping of my dash parts. i know there are kits out there, but some of the parts that i want to wrap are rather large. i dont want to buy a $90 kit from carbonmods.com when all i get is like a meter or so of carbon. thats just a rip off. especially when you can buy the epoxy resin and CF on ebay in large quantities for much cheaper.
so i understand that there is a black epoxy base coat involved when wrapping parts. im wondering if this is even required or if i can just use the epoxy resin that i would use between the layers. is there a special bonding agent in this base coat stuff?
here it is:

i was just wondering what the ebay or industrial equivalent would be.

I use fabric from http://www.solarcomposites.com/ and West 207 epoxy. I typically use carbon over a white background and have never had problems with the background showing through so I've never used a base coat. If you're concerned with the color showing, it would be cheaper to just buy a can of black spray paint..
