electrical issue

electrical issue

so i was driving home tonight and when i got off the freeway i noticed my battery light and brake light were shining dimmly, when i rev the motor past 2k they go away i was wondering if somebody has an idea what it might be? thanks in advance.

Your voltage is dropping lower than it should be. I don't know too much about the Evo alternators because mine is still going strong, but I've had a few cars with similar problems.

If the evo alternator has a diode pack / rectifier that could be going, but if it works at higher revs... it's likely the alternator itself, or the regulator is going (i don't know if it's self regulated or regulated by the ecu), bad ground/power wire, etc...

If you take the alternator out and bring it to autozone and they'll test it for you.

if it were the alternator wouldn't the battery light be coming on by itself? my voltage gauge is saying that its running at 14 volts. i don't know but that seems pretty normal?
