cleaning headlight housing?

well thanks to this crappy state and the crap that's thrown all over the roads especially during the winter months my JDM headlights have gathered some road crap and salt residue probably on the flat black portion or the housing. It just looks dirty. There is an exposed area underneath the housing that seems to be where the OEM housing is mounted and is where the dirt is getting through.

Now what would be the best way to clean that stuff out? a can of condensed air? spraying some distilled water in there and steam drying the housing dry? I don't want to use any windex or tap water because if you don't get it all off there will be some water spots and what not and I would like to avoid baking the housings to clean them if possible.

Any advice or feedback on how to clean the housings would be appreciated

take apart your headlight, clean everything thoroughly with windex, and for the outside, wesand with 1500-2000grit, and buff after

They sell a restore headlight kit at autozone or any other auto parts store that works very well.

I need a picture. I don't see how dirt can make it's way inside the headlight.
