Help me install my head unit, harness question

Can someone help me figure out what harness I need? Does the harness need to match the deck brand? Like are there harnesses to install an Alpine or Pioneer deck or are they universal? I also see a lot of generics...saying 1994 and up Mitsubishi, are there different models?

I think Im gonna buy the Alpine CDA-105 but crutchfield is kinda expensive but they show you what harness you need, trying to find a place to order just the harness like bestbuy or partsexpress or something.

I bought a harness from 6th ave electronics store and on the package it said 94 and up Mitsubishi. I installed it on 06 SE with Alpine In-dash DVD player. Yea I got orbital kit. Everything worked and no it does not matter what kind of head unit it will be used with. As long as the harness fits the cars harness than everything alse will just have to be colored matched. I hope that answered your question.

^^^ This.

OP, if you buy the deck from sonicelectronix.com, they'll include a harness. If not, you can buy one on Ebay. Look for a Lancer harness. Last I saw, it was less than $10 shipped.

These guys are speaking the truth. A couple of good brands are Metra Axxis and Scosche. If you have any questions feel free to PM me, I'm an MECP Installer.

I think its the male one but as long as it doesn't say "reverse harness" you're fine.

Best buy also have them. Go to the installation bay and let them know what model deck and year of your vehicle/brand.

I actually work at Best Buy.lol
Metra model numbers: 70-7003 (I believe this is for the SSL package)
70-7001 (Standard Audio. Same one since 1995)
The scosche one I mentioned before is the same as the 7001 I believe. I don't get to work on many Evos where I'm at, but I know I have a wiring harness in the Bay that has the 7001, and the 7003. 2 different harnesses for the price of one.
