Headlights and Alarm
Headlights and Alarm
Hi Guys,
I just recently purchased my 3rd evo. It is an 05 Evo VIII.
The headlights have been modified to turn on with the button that typically turns on the foglights (below the acd switch).
How do i Switch it back?
The car has an excalibur alarm system, but doesn't have the remote for excalibur. I have the factory remote. When I lock it, it makes the stock horn sound, when I press the activate/deactivate button inside the car for excalibur, it makes the alarm sound.
How can I wire the factory horn cable to the excalibur horn? The cable seems too short to reach it. (The excalibur horn is mounted behind my strutbar) (The factory horn is in factory location)
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Both of these are wiring issues. If you are good with electrical than you should do this but if not then dont.
1. For the head light issue, it looks liek for some odd reason he wired the head light switch into that button. Now this is either a simple fix or a hard one. It depends on the way he wired it into the head light switch. You can first start by tracing the wires off the switch backwards and seeing where they go, i would assume they would be for the headlights. Now either he cut the normal headlight wires/spliced into them/ran them from the fuse. There are many ways he could have done so.
I would start from there and see where the wires are going..
BTW if you can get the wiring diagram for the headlights i would do so.
2. Try to see if you can download the catalog for the alarm. This will tell you if you can directly just wire the horn in with the factory horn. In other words if you can take the wires going to the factory horn and put them in the after market horn .
Hope all that made sense

Meter the siren output from the brain. If it's less than .5 amps, 500 mv, you'll need a relay depending on where you hit the horn for the car. If you are hitting it before the factory relay, you won't need to. If you hit it after, you'll need to.
