There have been a few. You need to adjust the temp knob cable if it starts doing that. Some people just barely move it under the dash and it starts turning more freely.

You're looking at about $120 for the hvac control unit if memory serves me right.

I have to move mine from hot to cold by hand using the cable under the dash. Is there any DIY remedy for this problem? I don't feel like swapping the whole unit if it's going to happen again.

You really just need to inspect the line and make sure it isn't kinked. Usually just relocating it a bit helps a lot.

I have the same problem on mine, its really hard to turn. However my problem lies with the blend door inside the hvac box under the dash. The track gets dirty and the door that controls the hot and cold air gets stuck. I can turn it by the gear on the side of the box but its a pain to reach down there, and to fix it the dash needs to come out and its a big ordeal. Dealership charges around $700 to fix it too.

This sounds similar to whats happening to my A/C. Sounds like a headache, maybe it will need to wait until the summer. Dash removal is a pita to deal with right now.

yes search. there are revised gears for the blend air door and you might have to swap the door.
