Total audio n00b

So I bought my Evo used. The front speaker install looked real shoddy. Screws going through wires, put in haphazardly, etc. So my brother and I ended up putting in stock speakers he had from his Evo.

But the system is out of balance front to back; most of the volume comes from the back (haven't check what I have back there though).

My question is whether the PO's stuff is worth installing. I have

Beyma 6mi80 6.5" speakers
Kicker KS25 25mm Tweeters and aplifier-looking things (like the boxes on this image: http://images.hpca.netdna-cdn.com/D/KS25-01-01.jpg)

Is this worth installing? I'm not looking for anything loud, no subwoofer in the trunk. Just balance and decent bass.

Again, total noob in audio, any pointers appreciated. If I could wire all of this up myself, I wouldn't mind saving the money.

Your car was owned by someone who had no clue about audio, but did want something loud. Very loud, all else be damned. Install the stock speakers and seal/deaden he doors, add a decent HU and you'll be good to go. Good luck.

Thanks.

I have the Sony CDX-GT630UI, not sure if it's considered decent. I guess I'll have to check why the rear is so much louder. Might just be the acoustics of the slanted window.

I'd say that deck is decent, it has a USB and Aux input and three sets of RCA preouts. It may not be the best deck out there, but its not an off brand deck and it'll get the job done.

It may be a silly question but have you checked the settings on the radio (fader). Are there any amplifiers installed in the car? Are the rear speakers stock?

As for the speakers you have, I'm not familiar with them. The amplifier looking thing is a crossover, it filters out the sound that goes to the tweeter so that only higher frequencies will play through it.

If it were my car and I had those items laying around, I would put them in and see how it sounds, if you don't like it, put it back to stock.

I connected one side up, and it sounded like a computer speaker. No bass, and volume a fraction of the stocker. I presume that it needs to be driven by an amp.

Which speaker did you connect? The kicker tweeter or the Beyma speaker?

If it was the tweeter, that's normal, they only play high frequencies. If it was the Beyma speaker, it looks like it's a midrange speaker so it should not play the high frequencies. It also looks to be an 8ohm speaker so you'll get half of the power to the speakers, unless you wire them in parallel. Adding an amp will definitely help though. Also, when you were playing the speaker, was it mounted in the door? Or was the speaker sitting down somewhere?
