Boost guage wired backwards

Boost guage wired backwards
Recently purchased my Evo IX and realized that the boost gauge is wired backwards.
When I turn my dash lights up the boost gauge gets dimmer. Dash lights on their brightest setting and the boost gauge doesn't light up at all.
Anyone know how this was wired and how to possibly fix it? I've got the dash lights/boost gauge at a happy-medium, but I'd like my dash lights to be a bit brighter, especially at night.

That is a pretty strange behavior. Can you trace the positive and ground and post where they are connected? But it sounds like the ground is tapped into positive and the positive is tapped into the light circuit post dimmer. When you crank the lights up current cannot flow through. That's my guess anyway.
