Help with Replacement AC Condenser fan.
Help with Replacement AC Condenser fan.
This must be the 3rd time changing this fan I my Evo7 in the past 6 years. The first time was with a used Evo9 fan (the looked the same) and the last time was a 3rd party OEM fitment from Amazon. Someone suggested that my AMS intercooler might be pressing against the fan motor causing it to fail prematurely.
The stock fan has 2 speeds. I have no idea of the CFM at each speed or if both inputs are 12 volts.
If both inputs are 12V I could probably hook both inputs up to some relays and join their outputs to power a single speed fan with a slimmer profile and higher CMF rating.
Thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

It's a mix but the car does about 74Km/day during the work week. There is no 2 ways about it. The Evo needs the second fan. I did end up buying a Spal 30100384 and a couple of relays but when I took the bumper down, the AMS inter-cooler was pressed so hard against the fan, that both +ve appeared to be shorted and the negative terminal was burnt out. Added a slight spacer to give an extra 1.5mm of clearance from the inter-cooler, taped up the +ve wires, and hardwired the ground. Everything is hunkee doree now. The Spal is a much slimmer profile so if this happens again, I'll drop it in.
