Need Interior Speaker Recommendations!!!

Hey all,

So i'm looking to upgrade the interior speakers in my Evo now.

I've been running a Pioneer Avic-D3 headunit with an JL AUDIO 10w6 sub, and JL Audio 500/1 amplifier for the past year or so, and I really want some nice hitting mids and highs.

I dont want to spend like $600-$700 on a setup.

I've heard all different things that Alpine is good, MB Quartz is good, diamond Audio is good, Polk is good, Focal is good, etc.

Basically I already get the nice low freq. bass from my sub, but I want the mids to hit real nice inside, I listen to a lot of techno, house, trance, and dance music.
And of course I want clear highs.

What do you guys recommend that will fit without modification?

Also, some amp recommendations would be nice!

Thanks in advance!

mb quart...check ebay for best prices...love mine

JL makes some decent mids that will be in under your price range. The Diamond Audio seem the have the better midrange than the JL but JL has a better tweeter.

The MB Quarts and Focal may be to bright for your listening tastes. You really gotta hear them and judge for yourself.

Oh, and on the amp, you can't go wrong with any of the major brands.

My personal recommendation is the Alpine PDX for your mids/highs. The amp is compact and has a great quality to it.

This may help

Def go with MB Quart, they're amazing. If the mid priced ones are too high then JL is also a great product. As for the amp, Rockford Fosgate has always been my favorite. You can pick up an older model punch for pretty cheap, and they work really well.

thanks for the replies guys!

lol I wish it was easier to get to hear these all in person.

Yeah, it would be nice if it was all in one place and you could do side by side comparisons.

I wish I could do that with a 50 trim, green, and 30r!

You can always order several sets of speakers from Crutchfield (order them all at the same time). Then install them one after the other and listen to them. Then return the ones you don't like :D

I would have to suggest Alpine type-R love them and thats what I run

Scrap the sub and replace all speakers with Infinity Perfects. Throw in a massive amp and go crystal clear, while still bumping and losing the 100lb subs and box in the process.:D

No kidding. Check the power on those things.{thumbup}

You gotta pay for the best though.:crap:

I used to like MB Quart until I heard Dynaudio. The crossover components is a notch ahead of MB.....same as the speakers - think 3" voice coil on 5" woofer. You've never heard a voice reproduction like Dynaudio.

thanks for the input guys.

After doing some research, I decided to go with Polk Momo MMC6500 components up front, and Polk MMC650 speakers for the rear.

I'm still deciding on what amp to go with, so far i'm leaning towards the Kicker ZX650.4 to power them.

LayinLo Nov 26, 2007 03:12 PM

That amp would be a good pick for those components.

CDT if you dont like super harsh tweeters, they sound very natural.

I say the Type-R's have them in mine and Love them too. I dont listen to them all the way up anyways, there to loud. Ears start to hurt, when I have them up loud my ears ring for a half hr after! And they are really Clear!
