boost ?
boost ?
Ok. so im confused on the whole concept of the psi that is marketed for the EVO...
Im new still to turbo engines so cut me a bit of slack if you please
Now if all documentation sources say the evo pushes 19psi stock at 3,500RPM. then when is this perfect part of boost kick in? (i know that boost needs to be built i can figure this much out on my own.)
1st gear im assuming does not have enough time to build to 19psi im seeing about 16 psi
2nd gear i would figure there should be some kind of increase in psi related to first gear if, i see again around 16psi (the same mark on my boost gauge in 1st gear)
3rd gear now this is where i expect to deffinitly see my full 19psi.. on an average amount of runs under the same conditions im seeing just over the same mark of 16psi on my boost gauge
4th gear im seeing full boost of 19psi pretty much everytime... now its hard to want to test this often, by that time im speeding just a lil
5th gear not really tested becuase of the last point of 4th gear
Now is this normal or do i still have a leak/something else going wrong?
I know i can turn up my boost yada yada........... i just want to know basically if im driving correctly should i see 19psi at 3500rpm in each gear?
sorry for the length its just been bothering me as of late...

It hits peak boost at 3500 rpms then it tapers down to about 16. What you are seeing is normal. The reason you notice the peak boost in 4th is that it takes longer for the rpms to rise, so you have more time to watch the boost guage. If you want to up your boost, get a boost controler off of lancershop.com.
If you are running through the gears, when you shift from 1st to 2nd you will already be above 3500 RPM when you start out in second. The same applies to each gear.
Take the car out and just cruise up to speed. Get the car into 3rd gear and slow down till you are at 2000 RPM. Now mash the gas and see where boost peaks

so your basically telling me that the boost gauge either cant read it fast enough, or i just dont see it hit (i have had someone sit in the passanger seat and never see a spike at all to 19)... so that leads me to belive that the gauge cant keep up with it then...
I know its supposed to taper down to 16 but peak and taper that fast that it cant be seen?

..
ok so going back out and playing for a bit.. doing a bit of research and talking to a freind i have come to the conclusion that its 100% normal what im seeing..
more engine load = more boost.. thus why i see 19psi in 4th and not in others... guess i just need to buy a new mod
