Yes they are supposed to sound loud and whiney,at least the bigger ones.

Repeat after me:

"WALBRO"
"WALBRO"
"WALBRO"

I have a 255lph. It doesn't make any noticable noise unless the fuel level is low.

Interestingly - in the past two cases of a slight noise from a Walbro pump , I decided to remove the pumps for inpsection and in BOTH cases I discovered the customers had NOT properly installed the pump and the discharge from the pump was not fully seated into the rubber bushing in the pump housing

When the seal is not fully made between the pump discharge and rubber bushing it is possible for fuel to leak into the tank which causes the pump to run faster at idel - thus making more noise

If it bothers you - just take it out and see that the while plastic spacer is flush up against the pump and housing and the pump discharge is fully insertyed into the rubber bushing

Me and Bishiboy installed mine and made sure it was seated properly and everything fine. Mine was silent for a while and once the weather got hot and the car was flogged good, the pump was whining loud. Then when you let the car cool down a few hours, the pump was silent again until you drove the hell out of it again.

I have not heard my pump in a month or so now that the weather is much cooler, regardless of driving style. It's wierd.

Don't mind the sound as long as the pump does not fail over time. I question the reliability versus the OEM Denzo.

Thanks for the info. Mine whines all the time to the extent that if u don't have the radio on it's way loud. I got used to it, but i guess it could be that it's not installed properly. I'll check later on. thanks again
