Trouble putting in reverse

I've been having trouble putting the shifter in reverse lately. I have to throw it into 4th, or 2nd, then back into reverse and it will usually go in. What could be the cause of this? fix?

stock clutch or aftermarket?

i had this problem right before my clutch went out, it eventually got to where i had to turn the car off to get it in reverse or 1st.
