264/272 and tuning

I am getting 264/272 installed tomorrow and was reading a thread earlier saying not to install them without a management computer. Is there really any detrimental effects to installing them with only safcII and logging equip? And how much would a flash benefit new cams if I will already have the safc tuned for them? Thanks

SAFC is "management". Fuel-only, but that's all you really need at a minimum to help stabilize the idle and tune for the change air flow. If you have a logger, all the better...keep an eye out for knock while tuning the fuel. If you have a wideband and/or dyno to use, that would be better still...

As for what gains you'd see with a flash on the cams, someone else will need to answer that...
