MR 6sp Short Shifter
Does anybody know if a short shifter is available for the MR's 6sp yet? The designs for the 5sp won't work because of the reverse gear lock-out mechanism on the 6sp. I've contacted WORKS and they are working on one (see below), but they are also wondering how many people might be interested, since the MR is a limited number production run. If any of you are interested or know of a company that already makes one, please post up - thanks!
One more thing: does anybody know if the "under the hood" bushings for the regular 5sp will fit for the 6sp?

We have already begun doing a short shifter for our WORKS MR. You are correct in that it is different becuase of the reverse lock-out.
One issue we are up against is the quantities in justifying the numbers since the MR is a limited production vehicle. Do you know of other MR owners who would be interested in a WORKS Short Shifter?
Thanks for your interest.

Me on the other hand, I'm not big on short shifers, they might look good, but it would be the leading cause to you messing-up your scyncros from quick shifting........ I had it on my Supra 2 years ago (B&M shifter), I also had one on my 03 Lancer and I had to rebuild my transmition syncro twice. If you want to do it go ahead, learn from your mistakes $$$$$$$ way .
Ahhm... I don't know why other people buy short shifters, but for me it certainly has nothing to do with the way it looks
. I put a short shifter and solid metal bushings on my 01 Celica 6sp (which is somewhat notorious for being misshifted and people blowing up their engines), and it was one of the best mods I did. I've track raced it plenty of times (road not drag), and had zero problems with syncro wear or misshifting. The short shifter was also the first thing I missed when I switched to the EVO. Not trying to be mean or anything, but if your synchros are taking a beating you may want to consider changing how you shift - I don't think the shifter is to blame. Shifting smooth = shifting fast, hammering your gears = wearing out your tranny fast.

Kind of off-topic, but I do have a set of the Kartboy urethane bushings for both the shifter mount as well as the shift cables. I will be attempting the install during the week. I will let you know how it goes.

The green amoeba Kartboy shifter bushing will work for the MR Its the big one out of the 2 they gave us previous 2003 EVO owners. I installed it into my MR.
The larger one is the only one that fits. In the same place as the other one under the hood right next to the battery. The install is the same as on the 2003 Evo.
Hope this helps you guys out

It only took me like 5 minutes since I have the upper intercooler pipe and battery kit on my MR.
