No offense, just because Shiv says that doesn't mean its true. Go look at the DSM road and drag/racers still using the stock 2G manifold with internally gated turbos.

Buddy, who brought Shiv here?? This is my opinion. I know enough about cars (enough that I built engines) and install a million part on friends STi and basically tune his utec so he can drive for 2 weeks until he gets it all set and tuned perfect ( that was all in 12 hrs) . Please keep tuners off this subject if you have good info we are all ears.

BTW: do your self a small favor and read about me on these forums. I bought my kit way before I knew Shiv. I am always a big fan of EWG on high boost cars. For the STI or a GTI get an IWG but for the EVO with 30 PSI you need EWG ( this is a FACT)

So you are telling me that you would run an internal wastegate on a 550hp car? You can make more power by switching to an external, I hope you would know that.

No, I'm telling you that Buschur runs WAY over 550whp on his internally gated 7 second car... The point was that just because it is not JDM "Fast and the Furious" doesn't mean it doesn't work... I hope you know that.

I used to run an external on my 1g but I havent seen any options for O2 dump or O2 mounted wastegate for the Evo.....anyone point me in the right direction? Sorry to hijack even farther but this seems to be at least semi on topic for the moment.

Help me understand how an external wastegate makes more power. I think understand how an external wastegate will help prevent compressor overrun, surge & boost spikes by allowing a greater amount of exhaust bypass. I also think I understand how an external wastegate may help with lag and spool up time by improved response time of the wastegate. What I'm not sure I understand is why an external wastegate would affect overall power output. Assuming of course that the IWG turbo doesn't suffer from some sort of restriction at the O2 housing.

Hahaha, oops. I guess I dug this post out of the "scrap heap".
