new mushroom filter
What do you guys think of this filtr???
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634
I already have my intake, but for others would this be comparable to the HKS or does HKS filter actually do something this doesnt.
I know if you live in a sandy area this is NOT the filter for you, but if you live in say south cali, would this work?
Opinions welcome......

while mushroom style filters tend to make a little more power, it usually is because you are sacrificing filtration ability. its a trade off. if you dont run anyfilter at all, you will get the most power gains (hence all the professional drag racers run), but they dont help if you suck up a small child or somthing. a paper element is at the opposite end of the spectrum. good filtration, not so good on flow. thats why a lot of people run K&N or such. somthing that is made of oil impregnanted cotton or such similar materials.
im sure it would work good, the HKS filters arnt too bad, but again, be careful about the trade off.
personally i would prefer to trade a little performance for longevity of my car/motor. i just dont have enough money to have a racecar. its a shame, i would like one

open element foam filters let more air in, but that doesn't mean it's not going to filter dusts, it just wont filter small dust particles that usually burn up in turbo engines due to heat anyway.
HKS foam filter, you can't recycle or clean and use it again. On the other hand, the K&N, you could clean it, oil it and reuse it for a while.
I bought one of those before. Honestly, the HKS foam and the rip off's constructed differently. Their filtration is a lot different and usually the crappy filter don't filter that good or let air through that well.
I would spend more money on HKS then buy those crap.

On the other hand, you could get those for the intake housing only, not the filter.
that's why I bought mine, because they're designed to vortex air and it's fairely nice. Just get rid of the cheap filter and get the HKS Filter and use it. you'll save $100.
That with shop made bent pipe.

blitzblaster02 has a Buschur cone filter sitting at his place and I don't think it's ever been used, sure he'll cut you a deal on it if you need one, not trying to be OT just thought I'd try to help you out if you're in a pinch for cash.
