New filter and boost problem

ok well my friend has a evo with a mbc and blow off. today he had his stock box in and was running 19 psi like he should. we installed a k & N Cone filter.. the one that u just buy and it bolts up to the MAS air meter. well then as he full throttles to test it out his boost only went to 15 now so we turnd up the controller ...still now 16 so we kept goin up and up and now it still wont go over 18 and the nut inside the controller that u screw up and down for boost is like almost up and it still wont get back to 19. and i know we should be like boosting alot cuase when he had boost spike once i accidently turnd the controller wrong way and it spiked 24 so we turnd it down at its been at 19 for awhile. and im just wondering why it only goin to lik 18 and wont go any higher. and weve prob turnd the controller about 8 full turns to increase boost. and when we had the stock box about 1 turn equaled 1 lb of boost. if anyone knows what may be goin on .. please help. thanks

Did you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery? If not I would try that.

Did you double check and make sure you didnt mess up any of the honeycomb material inside of the MAF sensor? Also go and check all of your connections, you could just simply have a big boost leak. Go and check the connection of the MAF pipe to the turbo and then check all of your intercooler piping connections.

Put the stocker back on and if it still holds at 19+, throw the filter in the trash.

yea we may try taht toamrrow cause its pissn me off. cause wehre the little nut in the mbc is it should be at like 26 psi like the one time we accidently did with the stock box. we though for the turbo xs that counterclockwise was boost down but its up. he really seems to not care .. but i guess i do cause something is wrong when it wont go over 19. we may try the box back on tomarrow and it if the filter then i told him to sell it to someone and get a drop in. anyone think not being a retuned chip is the problem?
