I was in between 2 exahust which were the Helix and Bushcur. Well i was with my friends a a local shop called racing zone and they had a end of year sale. They had this exhaust on sale for $460 which was a great deal. my friends said to definitely get it, so i did. I asked if it was 3" and the guy says yeah. So we put it on, it looks awesome and sounds good too. Come to find out that it is not a true 3'' exhaust and it taper at the end to meet with the stock cat??? I am so mad b/c i wanted full 3'' since im getting the full 3'' test pipe and downpipe. Am i going to loose a lot of hp with this catback with the tapper? WHat does it tapper to? Im planning on making big hp but with this in mind,im disapointed
Whats going to happen when i add the test pipe and downpipe which are a different size?

i just bought the same exhaust.. 30th anniversary full SS edition.. i think this exhaust will really preserve alot of the midrange punch while increasing top end. mate it to an HKS downpipe and a high flow cat and you should be just fine.
HKS makes superb products. Don't worry about the diam.
All the slightly different power gains you see on dyno sheets can even be because of
factory differences in hp.
In the end you don't need anything bigger and I am sure with stock turbo you are perfectly fine
with HKS DP (if you get it) and Catback.
I am sure that no other exhaust has been tested more before introduction.

I tested a few exhuast before sticking with HKS HiPer 75mm system. I got the pipe cut at the flange where it used to taper down to 2.5" to match up with stock cat and welded on a short section of 3" and a 3" flange. The rest of my system is otherwise 3".
Comparing to the best (means most power) which is the Buschur Racing 3" with Maganflow, it is missing about 2-3 HP at the top end on my car. But it has the best sound of any system I have tried. At any throttle position, it never drone or rattle.
So you have your decision to make. If you want all out power and don't care about the sound, then Buschur it is.
btw I have tried Megan, Helix, invidia, B&B, RnR, Buschur, and HKS. No money for Greddy Ti or HKS's ultra expensive Ti.

hks is the best trust me....it looks good and good power get a testpipe rmr and a downpipe...perrin...dude i mad 325 to all four wheels with the stock downpipe...hks cat and rmr testpipe...and it sounds good have no worries
i searched this thread up and down and i decided to go hks carbon ti and hkw dp..NOT yet maybe for the summer but im gettin the combo for 1100 shipped, i think that's pretty good deal. I kno the hks carbon ti isnt the most radical in performance, but it looks and sounds amazing !!!

so why did you keep talking to him, for 3 years?
I dont know maybe its you, maybe me but so far almost 5 years and not a single problem with him/them.

it really depends on waht your end goals are. a 3" isn't always gonna be the best. if you want mid range torque a smaller system will give you more exhaust gas velocity and give you more torque. only problem with that is... you only get the torque until the diameter of the pipe can no longer sustain flow at high velocity in which case you get back pressure and power loss.
think about it this way. a 2.75 pipe is optimized to flow high velocity at mid rpm ranges. a full 3 would shift this optimized range up, but at lower rpms you'll get less fast more "stagnant" flow.
if you want a bigger turbo you'll want to go 3" but if you're sticking to stock the top end is gonna be capped by the exhaust housing of the turbo and not your exhaust system.
if you want a lil more punch out of the spool you can hollow out your cat to about 2.75 inches and you'll have a full 2.75 to 3" system.
