Guys, I go to PA inspection tommorow. Think anyone will realize if the CEL is disconnected? I know on start up all the lights and gauges flash, then go off....this may be trouble. What can I do...this stinks.

It will only make a difference if they put your car on an OBD-II scanner.. if they do, they'll get pick up the codes.. what they use to determine a pass/fail, well, I can't tell you..

That code is really not related to a connection failure or faulty sensor. Actually , the EGR flow sensor is working correctly for that code to be flagged. The p0401 code is most likely related to the vacuum hose being disconnected from the EGR valve under the intake manifold. Right under the throttle body you will see a diaphram, this is the EGR. Make sure the vacuum line is still connected to the bottom of the EGR. It may be dangling around there. Put it back on and zip tie that baby!! you're done

Thats kinda what I was grasping for..

Im just saying, if the wire is clipped, then a keen eye will see that the car's CEL does not come up upon start up. They do not have OBD-II scanners or requirements for emissions testing where I live.

Then they likely won't look for it.. They'll do whatever they need to.. Their in the business of inspections.. if it meets their qualifications, it passes, if it doesnt, it fails.. I doubt they will scrutinize it that closely..
