MBC now or later???

Should I go ahead and install my Hallman now or after I have been driving the car for a while? I only just have my car on the road so I am not too used to driving it yet. I was thinking of waiting a week or 2 before installing the MBC just so I can get the feel of the car and how it is performing before I go messin with it.
What do you recommend???
Thanks
Aus

get a turboback exhaust first since an mbc on a stock car wont yeild much power when you still have restrictions on it.then a reflash or an safc to pair up with the mbc since higher boost is gonna need more fuel for it.

Thanks guys. I think my mind has been made up for me. There is a bunch of Ice and snow on the ground here so it wouldnt be very good to be going out at WOT to get it set properly. Oh well....May have to wait a week or so.

is it true that with a turboback, it's safer to get a MBC so it doesn't overboost?

i would wait until you have driven your car and understand how she feels. you will know when its the 'right' time to add the mbc.

btw - do you have a boost gauge?

I went

1.boost gauge
2. exhaust / mbc
3. yada yada

I highly recommend a MBC/EBC if you get an exhaust.. most everyone will say the same (i think).

But yeah if you're not comfortable driving it yet.. wait. Maybe after your first oil change start modding?

i don't have a boost gauge right now... I was thinking about DEFI but then u have to buy the controller unit... and there are just so many mods that i would spend the money on rather than the gauge/controller unit

not sure what you mean by overboost, cause when i installed my tb , my boost might have spiked to 21psi max , and then taper back down to 18. i guess anything over 19 psi is overboost , but hitting 21 every 500 miles is not that big of a deal.

now if it spiked to 30 psi then i could see a need for the mbc. but with just the tb i dont think its necessary , nor will it spike to 30 psi

Is it possible your car can spike to 30psi??? that would be crazy.. I think i was talking to ppl just now and they said boost spike and boost creep isn't a major problem on the evo... I hope my spike is only up to 21 for a short while...

a boost gauge should the number one mod to the evo -my opinion

as far as the defi gauge - you do not need the controller unit if you get the defi d gauge. which is just as good as the white face bf, except it doesnt have that fancy - startup / shutdown display

Defi actually makes a mechanical series of gauges (D-Series I think) Which are like 1/2 the price of the electronic ones, and don't require a control unit.

Also, if you're getting any sort of MBC/EBC....BUY A BOOST GAUGE. You're just asking for trouble if you try to set it up without one.

Well i was planning on getting UTEC and get someone to tune it... that's why I don't know if i'll just be wasting my money with a MBC/EBC....
