After I had an Exedy Hyper Single clutch installed my car has problems. The problem started when it was just me in the car and around 80 mph the car would start rumbling and shaking with only light throttle. When I let off the gas it was fine, but then it would start again.

I had my mechanic who installed it ride with me, and of course it did not do it. He said he thought the harmonics were out of sync from the original part, and it wasn't serious since it did not happen all the time constantly.

Then I noticed the P0300 misfire code on EVOs and it sounded like the same symptoms as mine. I again called my mechanic and he said that if it was a 300 misfire then it would do it all time, not just around 80 mph.

Now it rumbles and shakes with more than just me in the car and does it in 4th gear too.

Has anyone with an Exedy had the rumbling and shaking problems or because of the P0300 misfire code?

I get increased driveline noise and rattling from the twin plates on my exedy. You shouldnt get rumbling and shaking.

 

Ive had many clutches under my foot for last ten years and exedy hyper single is the best for lightly modified cars. Also exedy makes all clutches so dont worry.
Have a look at cuscos etc and you will find exedy written on. so have it installed by a good mechanic and dont worry at all.
Remember also that modifying the car you lose from its confort
I see guys here that install twin plates and complain.huh
You sacrifice some things for speed.
