Would appreciate some feedback on this if anyone has experienced this...
Basically what happens is that on occasion my rear differential seems to lock/partially lock up. This is most noticeable when moving from a stop into a short right or left turn. Basically the car acts like a good ole 4x4 with some groaning coming from the rear of the car and noticeable vibration. No symptoms while driving straight. It is very similar to an Evo I test drove last year which was ultimately diagnosed with a bad rear diff (got the scoop from my sales rep at the dealership). However, what bugs me is that my Evo does not do this all the time. It did it when it was really cold last week and it did it again yesterday (warmer out) after I did a slow start in 2nd gear (from a roll) with very low rpms (~1500).
Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. I just hate the idea of bringing it into the dealership to try to diagnose. They've been pretty good so far, but I know they are going to talk smack about this one because they know the car isn't exactly stock anymore...

Thanks for the tip, erioshi. I haven't changed the fluid yet. I'll have it checked out. I may just go ahead and change it out just to see if that helps. Heck while I'm at it, I might as well change all the tranny fluids. I'll do a search, but any thoughts on the whole Synchroshift vs. redline vs. whatever else there is debate?

Ok, finally got off my lazy a$$ today, went to AMS and had the tranny, tcase and rear diff fluids changed ... worked like a charm! My Evo has had its 4x4 demons exorcised and has morphed back into its original AWD state
Thanks again Erioshi!
