Cool **Flashing**

Ok, Please take it easy on me.

I have searched these forums for anything that "explains" what flashing is. I've read SO much stuff on it, like it's part of peoples mods. I want to know what it is exactly. Be kind to a noob Future IX owner...

Thanks...

Flashing is what a tuner can do a car shop to change the ECU the brain of the car to give it better performance

Ok, does it make the ECU work with the mods done to the car?
So if a guy were to mod his car and not flash it, will it run worse or just not put out the possible HPS?

ya basicaly. the tuner does just that makes it the best performance it can with the mods you have. even with just a stock car you can have it tuned to put more HP out.

just bolting parts on gives you a gain you dont get full benifits till you tune ur car to run with the parts.

After any new performance mods you should get your ECU flashed by someone that knows what their doing (Dynoflash). I ran my car with a few mods with out the flash, It ran OK. It ran even better after getting it flashed or tuned.

I have had Dynoflash and TurboTrix. Without saying more, my recommendation is TurboTrix.

the stock ecu has a program in it to run the car, in the case of the evo it has parts that you can not access but the map parts is accessible. so what a tuner would do is flash it which means erase the stock map and put the tuned map for your specific mods, and like that making more power.
and yes turbotrix rocks, mark is the man.

yeah, basically a good flash just pulls the max performance and safety out of your car, mods or not, if you mod a car without a flash, it'll run worse than without the flash, but if it's just a simple bolt on mod, it'll still run better than stock still...or you'd hope it did
