downpipe question

does anyone know the benefit of a downpipe with flex?

the flex section allows the exhaust to move around with the movement of the car for hard cornering or rough bumps without putting undue stress on the rest of the exhaust.
It's a good thing

None. It's purpose is the same as the donut gasket which allows the DP to move around (flex) without causing damage to the welds when the engine moves.

flex pipes are not good for high temp cars like the evo... under extreme temp. of racing and or spirted driving they have known to fall apart. I just used spring bolts and they work fine...
