New Fluid For Clutch Install??
I'm having my ACT installed soon. Will the shop need to replace the trans and/or t-case fluid for the install? I want to know so I can provide the proper fluid(s).
Yes. If you don't have any problems and you want to pay a lot for your fluid, get DiaQueen SAE90 weight gear oil from
for the transfer case, and 75W85 GL-4 gear oil from
as well. don't let them put GL-5 gear oil in your main transmission. Don't let them put anything like Mobil 1 75W90 in your tranny, although I have that in my transfer case and it seems to do fine. I have GM Sychromesh in my main tranny, but that's not recommended.
Just make sure, whatever you do, don't get anything that isn't recommended unless you are totally sure it will work. Don't let them tell you they put this stuff in all the cars and it's fine, because it's not fine. You need to put the right stuff in.

I don't now but I've heard good stuff about GM sychromesh.
I'm currently running pennzoil sychomesh in the tranny, RL 75W90 on rear, and RL heavy SP on TC. Going to change out the TC fluid to OEM Diaqueen.

I like the Sycrhomesh, and others that have tried it seem to like it as well. I've heard it's not thick enough though, and GM has a similar product that works better. I do know the GM Sychromesh makes shifting 100% easier. Hardly any notchiness at all anymore unless it's cold.

Transmission=BG syncroshift from lancer shop and for theTC Mobil one 75w90 ,its as simple as that. Ive been running this combo for over 40k miles and have had great results. No grinding or missed shifts at all and I beat the hell out of my tranny.
FWIW..I also have the lancer shop ss kit with bushings, exedy twin disc with the stainless steel clutch with the shorter actuator rod and the restrictor removed. Point being, results may vary, but you cant go wrong with the BG fluids.

Thanks for all the help. I'll make sure to give them the proper fluid and instructions. For the record, I've been using Royal Purple SAE90 gl-5 for the t-case, and a blend of redline mtl and mt-90 for the trans. Works great, a little less gear noise than before and it shifts nice and smooth, espescially when it's cold.
