I bet you're hearing that wwwhhhhhooooaaa type sound huh? Almost like a howling, eh?
It's got about 10K miles on it. I heard the usually whining from the first day I bought it, but I swear this new noise has started in the last week or two. I did used to hearing a "wwwwhhhhooooaaaa" sound, but then my ex-girlfriend got used to riding in the passenger's seat.

We've seen a few transmissions with cracked teeth on 1st gear but this only happens when you dump that heavy duty clutch with too much enthusiasm.

What clutch are you using?

I have some sort of noise when I downshift, however today I found this very interesting. I was waiting on my friend at the doctors office for an hour so I brought in my manual to give it a read over and help pass the time. When downshifting the manual recommends nothing over 30MPH. Once you hit 30MPH you can go down to 3rd gear from 4th or 5th. And at 10 to 20MPH you could go down to 2nd gear from 4th or 5th...

I tried this out and to be honest the noise is gone if you do it this way. But I added my own touch and now all I do is blip my throttle twice or once to get the revs up when I downshift at say 30MPH and let of the clutch easy and the car is silky smooth coasts right into the stop light and slows down perfect. Maybe give it a try

good luck

My car was doing this.. at about 40K miles. I believe the noise has now completely disapeared. I really cant think of anything that could have been done. Its good to know that its not a serious issue.. It would only do it really if i was downshifting from 3rd to second.. a definite load groan sound. I get no other strange tranny noises though.
