Good Boost controller ???
Good Boost controller ???
I came across this website www.manualboostcontrol.com and ordered a boost controller in blue.
The owner says he sells them locally to an EVO specialist and says he gets good reviews all the time. I checked out his feedback as well....very nice.
Anyone else run this boost controller, and if so how do you like it???
thanks in advance

correct?
yeh, figure of speech, but the manual boost controller works using a spring and check ball, by screwing the adjusting screw into the boost controller you put more pressure on the spring which reduces the amount of airflow through the boost controller and into the boost controller port. Less airflow means less pressure will be assisting the spring to keep the wastegate plunger shut. The pressure in the vacuum line going to the compressor reference port will equal the pressure the turbo is producing.
so i guess if you wanna call that pinch. I said that because some of those MBC's come with weaker springs.

that reminds me of the hallman ex, but cheaper... I'd like to see the spring and the ball.
that and what the ***** made of. That plus construction, is it cnc machine or molded aluminum? is it aluminum?
I also think you should ask, if the knob could turn on its own or does it have some sort of safety mechanism, so it wont turn.
that's a big knob for a mbc.

How much does it realy cost to make an MBC?
I mean, it's just a ball, spring, and a piece of metal. I don't see it costing more than 5-10 bucks to make. I bet it'll work just fine.
Try it out, but make sure you have a boost gauge so you can make sure it works properly. And hey, if it doesn't work, it was just $12.

yeh, $12 you could of put into something that's proven to work.
Also, you're really not thinking about the work that goes into putting a mbc in your car.
that's work + $12 + chance of MBC over boosting and blowing your engine.
but try it and tell us if that works. If it works, that's a great bargain.

For $12 he'd only be like 1/8th of the way towards the cost of a hallman.
If you use discretion when testing the MBC, there is no chance of overboost.
I guess it could fail later on down the line, but if he pays regular attention to the boost guage there shouldn't be a problem.
