Advantage of recirc is that it keeps you from studdering when you back out of the throttle. I am putting an EIDS in for that, but other than that there is no advantage.

 

At the risk of sounding like "super noob", what's an EIDS and what does it do? I'm all about the driveability and, if I read your post correctly, this would improve that aspect. Help a brother out!

 

It's an idle stabilizer made by HKS. It basically stabilizing your MAF signal when you back out of the throttle with a 100% vent to atmosphere BOV. Normally the ECU expects a certain amount of air to recirculate so it compensates with more fuel but since it actually is not recirculating you run rich. The EIDS simply modifies the signal to take this into account so your car doesn't studder.

 

So, if you have a stand alone EMS like AEM or APEXi that does away with MAF it's not necessary?

 

It is not necessary if you have an engine management system that "does away with the MAF".

 

PS Whoosh, the Tial would not be a bad investment for what you are wanting to do... not a requirement, but it would be "nice to have" with the air you will be pushing.

I would have to agree. Tial is the largest diameter BOV I have ever seen and works beauitifully every time.

 

You could also go with a Greddy Type R

That's what i am getting when I upgrade my turbo. I have the Type S right now and the Type R bolts on the same flange, so I'll let everyone know sooner or later.
