it is a cockpit adjustable flapper valve to control the "loudness" of the exhaust by restricting the flow.

You are thinking of electronic cut-outs. Those are valves that Y off of the main pipe in front of the cats to completely open up the exhaust and bypass the cats, resonators, and mufflers. Gives the car more power and a helluva mean sound.

Thumbs up

hope this thread might help some of the Cali members.

that website is a shop that only does Mitsus. everyone should check them out. i used www.worldlingo.com to translate the website www.yr-advance.com from japanese to english.

i also want to see if anyone can get the Wako's coolant booster & AT/diff additive as well.

They are good for noise (my friend had one on his S15) but they do noticably drop power even when fully open.

I used to use one of these but removed it after about 3 months. Just didn't quite like the idea.

Apexi have come up with something else with a similar effect:
http://www.apexi.co.jp/pro_apexi/exh...tive_Tail.html

It will rob you of some HP according to the local Apexi distributor - they dyno'd their car with/out it. IIRC it was something like 8 - 9 whp, but I'm not entirely sure but definitey under 10 whp.
