Evo Car Problem 8- ( !!!

Today I got my new walboro 255 lph fuel pump installed and fixed my check engine light with the o2 simulator on my rear o2 by the exhaust. Tried to install the new o2 housing I have too, but the bolts were a pain so didn't get to doing that. Anyway, I tested it out and noticed it ran very well and my boost seem to hit higher than ever, im running stock ecu settings and the boost maxed out my 1.5 kpa hks boost gauge. I ran an sti from the stop, I'm new at launching, and I did a very bad messed up launch, I smelled a crap load of burning smell from my clutch for a while. I ran him again right afterwards and I smoked him from a roll. 4 hours later tried to punch my car and IT WONT GO!!!!!!!!!! It spools up to 3500 and after each gear it seems like its lagging and It backfired like CRAZY!!!!!! I thought it was my clutch at first, but my friend says it wasn't my cluthc, because the smell went away, and if I had a bad clutch my car would never keep backfiring. He says I need to get an s-afc and get my car tuned as soon as I can because the 255 fuel pump and the new buschur test pipe I put it is mkaing my car run toooo rich and I haven't tuned it yet 8- ( Not sure if thats correct? Does this sound right to you guys, I thought it was my clutch but everybody says its not, I was so scared it was I will never launch again even if it wasn't my clutch 8- ( I dont have money for that, but can you guys gimmie feedback and let me know what it could be, hopefully it is in fact that I needa get it tuned, and if so, s-afc, flash or what should i get because im on a budget 8- ( THanks!!!

Is it reving freely when you hit the gas, as if you had dropped it in neutral all of sudden?

Oh no, its not revving freely, i Know what your talkin bout, like if its slipping and revving higher faster. I rev's regularly til i hit certain rpms it feels like my car wants to go but it cant because of the much back fire I get, feels like my car is running tooooo rich, if its running to rich willl this occur and not make my car get max performance til i get it tuned? I hope its jus getting it tuned 8- ( BTw, i have buschur turboback catless, arc induction kit, helix ic piping, turbo xs -h34 bov, walboro 255 lph fuel pump, few other minor mods.

something must be wrong with your fuel pump...did you bend anything or forget to hook up any of the hoses?

I am running full turbo back exhaust including new O2housing and a walbro fuel pump with Zero tunning and my car is running just fine...

Ha, yeah I watch it once a week and still laugh. Ok from my current experience of my clutch slipping, I first started noticed it free reving while in 5th gear while testing boost. I gave it full throttle around 70mph/3000rpm. I did the same thing today after swapping out my "clutch extender rod" aka worthless $30 pos, for my stock rod and got very brief free rev followed by a back firing sensation. Are you on stock or after market clutch and how much mileage do you have on it?

I'm sure your running super rich, but from what your explaining I don't think that is your problem

im still on stock clutch. So basically, its not because im running rich. Hmmm, I can see if my friend can check the fuel pump for me anotehr day because, I ran my car perfectly after I got it on and seemed quicker, then after I launched it when I kinda messed up the launch, I ran again from the roll and it still punched good. 3 hours later it backfires whenever I punch it after 3 k or so, it spools up and it backfires and my gas pedal shakes its weird. I needa know what it is. Ill check my o2 housing sensors and etc. Hopefully those arn't loose 8- (

If you are maxing out your boost gauge, then you have NO IDEA what boost you are actually running! You could have been hitting very high boost and not known it. About your current problem, 10 to 1 odds you blew off an IC pipe coupling from the high boost. If it is still together (but not connected tight) it will idle OK but leak boost like crazy when the turbo spools up and leave the car running so rich it backfires and will hardly run. That would cause the symptoms you gave.

thank you very much keith, appreciate the help 8- ) I think that might be, my lower right intercooler pipe, the main charge pipe that fits on the turbo inlet, i think might be leaking, hopefully it is, i guess once boost kicks it, it could be leaking hopefully and thats it 8- ( ALso hope i didnt do any damage if that is the problem and that my clutch is ok 8- ( ill check tomorrow

Could be that your boost is too high and you're hitting fuel cut due to MAF overrun. My experience with the stock clutch is that one you slip it, it's all downhill. My first Evo's clutch lasted only 7k miles or so - my new Evo (with all of the same mods) has never slipped and I'm at 12k miles. Difference is I never launch this car hard.

I agree with the blown intercooler hose statement. Check for boost leaks, look at your plugs (see if they are fouled from overfueling), and reset your computer.

Unplug your O2 sim. You may have had a loose wire and knocked it loose with your less than stellar launch.

I know it sounds far fetched, but I had a similar thing happen to me. The heat shield shorted a couple o2 sensor wires and it made the car run like crap.

You can test it by completely unplugging the o2 from the harness under the seat. If the car runs good when its unplugged, you know its in the wiring.

hmm, I did take the bottom headshielf off and didnt put it on back in, that covers the o2 sensor beside the o2 housing 8- x, I doubt that heat could have shortened it cause many aftermarket manifolds dont have headshields. I want to chec kb ut i dont know how to take off the front ecu, or which one the o2 sensor is. Do you have a diagram on how to take it off somewhere. Thanks
