SES at 4600 miles
I have an MR with Buschur turbo back exhaust with Catco high flow cat and Magnaflow muffler, and a K&N drop in filter. Used an impact gun for install, so no significant leaks. I've had the mods for a month, and no CEL. My car hit 4600 miles on the dot, and I get an SES. (I have not yet taken it in for scheduled maintenance. However, I did change the oil and filter at approximately 1500 miles.)
Did this light come on because I am due for a maintenance from the dealer, or could this be due to my mods?

None of the later Mitsu have a "maintenance" light. Only the older trucks had it. You should take it to the dealer to have them check it out. It should not cost anything since you are still under warranty with your mods. Let us know what is was.

Upside: Free Mobile 1 oil change and maintenance. (Warrantied)
Downside: The light was caused by a leak in the flange between the Cat and the downpipe. (fixed) Got another SES after resetting the computer a couple of days later. Leak between O2 housing and downpipe. (fixed)
I'm trying to get something a little more permanent, but tightening the bolts is my temp fix. Any help would be appreciated.

It's most likely P420 code which seems to pop up with some HF cat. I get it too with my Helix HF cat but after I added more mods like intake.
Now I got a pocket OBD II reader and erase the code daily since it takes the whole day before the code pops up.

^ wow that sounds like a pain. I sure hope that's not the problem, but if it is. Looks like I'll be getting a pocket OBD II reader. By the way, how much should I expect to pay for one of those?

I'm pretty sure it's caused by your highflow cat. Call BR and have them send you the 02 simulator and it should take care of that. I have the same exhaust , highflow cat, muffler and it use to come on every few hunder miles after resetting ECU. After I install 02 simulator, SES light has not come on for over a year.

I got mine at Kragan auto store for $69.99 plus tax.
The P420 code seems to be made of two codes, one that is stored in the ecu but doesn't throw a SES light then I guess once triggered again a second P420 that throws the SES light. So, your ecu might have a P420 but no SES light.
I usually check evey morning or night and erase the first P420 code so no SES is thrown. But, once in awhile on a long drive SES light does pop up which can be erased in about 15-20 seconds while cooling off the car.

Thanks for the help, guys.
Just got off the phone with Buschur. They're shipping an O2 simulator today. Good customer service. I'm sure that's what the problem is, but that OBDII reader sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna look one up. Are they vehicle specific?

You'll like the O2 Sim. Very easy to hook up. As for the OBD II code scanners, they are a good tool to have to help diagnois car problems when SES light comes on. Vehicles from 96-newer are OBD II. Scanner should be able to scan most of the new models. Mine works with Mitsu, Honda, Toyota, and Ford so far.

Good info.. I'm on it. My SES came on again. Modding is not for the faint of heart. Besides.. modding without any set backs is like being a prized fighter without ever having a bloody nose.

The spark plug fouler trick may work for others but didn't work for me. I have O2 sims on both my cars, 5 yrs on the civic , 1 yr on the Evo and no SES light. With the spark plug fouler trick you'll need an electric drill and a big *** drill bit and it's still not gaurantee to work, at least in my case it didn't. I've tried it before there was an o2 sim out for the Evo. It's easier just to get the 02 sim in my opinion, 3 wires and you're done.
